Motu giusto???

Motu Proprio mania has well and truly swept accross the Catholic world. Even the liturgically challenged, such as myself, have come to understand that the latest fracas has been just a little bit more than your average "bisticcio" about another Papal document. It's gloves off for some and gloves on for others! The liturgically sensitive will  no doubt be grinning.

One of the most dissappointing things about the 'reactions' have been the responses of the bishops. We are all used to bishops ducking for cover when the tough questions fly, but this has set quite a standard. You wouldn't see so many ruffled feathers even if you yelled out 'law suit' in the middle of the USCCB. (Liturgy musn't be covered by any policy)

Very few (and I can't think of one, but I am always willing to be corrected) have come and said the most obvious thing when asked what are they going to do. You had some Bishops reaching for tissues (with somewhat southern Italian melodrama), you had others saying that it wasn't a big issue and others saying that it was the only issue (the end of Vatican II). You even had some bishops remarkably doing all three. But if only ONE bishop had said:

"WE ARE GOING TO DO WHAT THE HOLY FATHER WANTS, WITH PRUDENCE, COURAGE AND GENEROSITY TRUSTING IN THE LORD WHO NEVER LETS US DOWN."

Good Lord- was that so hard to say? Apparently so. Anyway we shall let the Bishops off the hook- and no I do not work for the LA justice system.

Lastly, many are prophesying the end of Vatican II and the death of reform. To them I say Mt 24:11-13. Perhaps it is just the death of some people's vatican2, so that another may live and give Life.
